As far as I am concerned, Marc Jacobs is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment. The line recently revamped their lipsticks, introducing shades (some new, others old) in two formulas: the Lip Crèmes and the Sheer Lip Gels. Role Play is from the Sheer Lip Gels line, but I don't find it to be especially sheer. Additionally, although the color is described as a 'dusty rose' on Sephora.com, I don't find it to be especially rosy, either!

Marc Jacobs Role Play |
Role Play feels wonderful on the lips. Unlike many sheer lipsticks that feel a bit oily or greasy on the lips (like the YSL Sheer Candy lipsticks), this feels creamy and yet exceptionally light. I'm not sure what kind of sorcery Marc Jacobs used to achieve this, but it is delightful. The only giveaway that this is a 'sheer' lipstick is that it does not have great lasting power. I found myself needing to reapply Role Play about every hour or two, but I should also disclose that I drink coffee/tea/water non-stop throughout the day. I haven't tried this lipstick with a liner yet, but I suspect that it would at least help improve the staying power. But if a super long-lasting lipstick is a must have for you, I would advise checking out the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crèmes (see my review of Je T'Aime here) instead.
