May Favourites

After a bit of a wait to receive the many products I ordered during a shopping frenzy during April, I finally got my hands on some of the items during the month of May. The majority of my purchases will be arriving in a few weeks, when my darling mother arrives for a 10-day visit to the Balkans, but in the meantime, I have found quite a few stellar products this month. At least two of them are so good that they have already achieved the so-called holy grail status. Thus, without further ado, here is what I've been loving lately:

Surratt Beauty Relevée Eyelash Curler
Earlier this year I made the startling—and unpleasant—discovery that my Shu Uemura S Curler was chopping off my eyelashes! I immediately ceased using them and went on a search to find a new pair. I was going to order a Shiseido curler, which I had used in the past, but when Surratt Beauty became available on Sephora, I decided I wanted to try the Relevée Curler. Unfortunately it was out of stock throughout the entirety of the VIB sale. But when it appeared back in stock a day or two after the conclusion of the sale, I immediately put it into my cart and ordered. It sold out again quite quickly, so I'm glad I managed to get it as I have never, ever found eyelash curlers that fit my eyes so well. My eyes, for the record, are medium-sized, hooded, and a bit flat. If that sounds anything like you, you MUST try these out. Available at Sephora for $30.

Colourpop Eyeshadows in Amaze, 3, and I <3 This
I am late to the Colourpop party, but with 3 orders placed over the past 2 months, I'm making up for lost time. So far I have only tried out their eyeshadows, but I have been very impressed. Like every reviewer mentions, the texture is very unusual but I find them easy to apply/blend with my fingers and the colors are gorgeoussssss. I've been wearing the combo of Amaze, 3, and I <3 This non-stop for the past few weeks. I start by putting a color like MakeupGeek Peach Smoothie into my crease, then I pop Amaze onto my lid and 3 in the outside corner. I <3 This makes an amazing inner corner highlight, without fading or creasing into my tear duct throughout the day. Available at Colourpop for $5.

Marc Jacobs Contour and Blush Brush
I ordered this to go with the #instamarc Contour Face Powder in Mirage that I ordered during the Sephora sale. I haven't gotten my hands on the powder yet, but I have fallen head over heels with this brush. I would go so far as to say that it is my favorite brush of all time. The shape, feel, and density are perfect for a blended contour. I thought that the angled brush I was previously using to contour with was doing the job pretty well, but this simply blows that out of the water! If you contour, you need this. Available at Sephora for $38.

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème in Infamous
I posted about another Le Marc Lip Creme, in Je T'Aime, here so I already knew I loved the formula, which is pigmented and creamy on the lips. Infamous is a beautiful mauvey rose shade that has garnered me compliments each and every time I've worn it. And given the number of my friends who have already borrowed this from me to slap on during a night out, I can say that it seems to be almost universally flattering! Available at Sephora for $30.

Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders Set
I received the Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders set as a deluxe sample with a Sephora order many months back (side note: the set says it is a 7-day sample, but since there is no way I could use one entire sachet in each application, so far this kit has lasted me for over 3 weeks and I've still got about 1/3 left). I was disinterested in this at first and set it aside, but in my quest to use up my samples, I whipped this out. Featuring a Vitamin C Collegen Booster for use in the AM, an AHA gel for use in the PM, and a moisturizer to be used both morning and night, this is a pretty good basic regimen. It has been keeping my skin clear and moisturized and serves as a good base for my higher end serums and treatments. The deluxe sample kit doesn't appear to be available, but you can order a small trial size of the kit for $22.50 (or splurge for the full size for $72) at Sephora.
