I thought it was high time I did the 'Top 10 Products under 10' tag (since I'm based in the U.S. these days, I've gone for $10, rather than £10...and all of the products are relatively easy to find in the States!) In no particular order, here are my most loved budget products:
CVS Eye Makeup Remover: This is a CVS dupe for the L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover. I oil cleanse to remove my makeup (including eye makeup) but often find that after washing my face, I still need to remove the final traces of mascara from under my eyes. This does a great job and since it's not an oil formula, it can be used immediately before application of makeup.
Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel Basecoat: This is hands down the best base coat I've ever used. It plays well with every nail polish formulation I've ever tried, creating an excellent base for polish application and helping the longevity of the color.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint: I recently blogged about my love for these, so their inclusion on this list should come as no surprise! The range has some beautiful shades and application is a breeze.
Maybelline Cat Eyes Waterproof Mascara: This mascara holds a curl in my lashes like no other mascara (high or low-end) that I've ever found. If you are looking for volume, this might not be the mascara for you. But if you, like me, want a mascara that will help open your lashes as wide as possible, give this a try!
L'Oreal Colour Riche The Balm: These sheer lipsticks leave a nice glossy finish on the lips. Like all sheer lipsticks, they don't have the best lasting power, but they come in a wide range of beautiful shades. I also don't find them drying on the lips, which is always a bonus! The color Caramel Comfort is my go-to nude.
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso: This blush is a bit of a cult favorite, purported to be a dupe for NARS Orgasm. I find it less pink than Orgasm, with less of a glitter explosion, as well. It is a beautiful peachy/coral shade that is perfect for summer.
Shiseido Facial Cotton: For years I used drugstore cotton rounds, failing to see how 'fancy' facial cotton could be anything other than a waste of money. But after trying out the Shiseido Facial Cotton, I realized that in addition to being much softer and more pleasant to use, they aren't that much more expensive. The Shiseido run $9.50 for a pack of 165 squares. CVS cotton rounds average about $4 for a pack of 80. So, it's about 5.7 cents for each square vs. 5 cents for each round. The upgrade is totally worth it.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish: My nails are quite weak, with a tendency to peal, making finding a nail polish that will last on me for more than 2 hours without chipping a never-ending quest. Apart from the Nails Inc. Gel Effect polishes, these ones by L'Oreal are the most long lasting I've ever found. Plus, the formula is fantastic! They are easy to apply, not streaky, and have a beautifully glossy finish.
Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 Healthy Glow: Bourjois products are sadly not available in U.S.-based brick & mortar stores anymore. However, there are a number of online retailers where you can easily find them. For many years, ASOS was where I got my Bourjois fix. But Walgreens.com now sells many Bourjois products (strangely, in packs of 2). I love cream blushes in general, and the ones by Bourjois are easy to apply and long lasting. The shade Healthy Glow is natural looking and does what it says--give a healthy looking glow!
L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaires: I reviewed these here and here, and since those reviews, have bought even more shades! Of all of the lipstick/lipgloss releases by drugstore brands, the ones by L'Oreal are by far my favorite. They clock in right at $9.99, but you can often find them on sale or even find coupons giving you a couple of bucks off. A lot of people are raving about the Maybelline and Revlon versions, but I maintain that the L'Oreal Extraordinaires are the best of the bunch.
