Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Cranberry

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Cranberry
I know, I know. Another day, another Bite product. I am a lip junkie to begin with and Bite consistently knocks it out of the park with their excellent formulations and beautiful colors. I just can't stop buying them. Can't Stop. Won't Stop. This is my second item from their High Pigment Pencil line (they've also recently come out with a matte pencil line, which I will be reviewing soon) and it is stunning. As in, I cannot now imagine my life without this product.

I have had my eye on the shade Cranberry, which is described as a 'deep red' by Sephora, for months but for some reason I never pulled the trigger. To be honest, I think I was bitter that I didn't pick up the holiday set by Bite, which featured these pencils in the shades Cranberry, Rhubarb, Madeira, and Quince. I think I was holding out on Cranberry in the hope that another set would be released, so that I could try multiple shades at once! The straw that broke this camel's back, however, was the fact that Cranberry is limited edition. When I found that out, I quickly picked up Cranberry and I've never looked back!

Bite products have consistently impressed me, and Cranberry is no different! It is a cool red with just the slightest hint of berry. It is a deep shade, but it's not dark enough to be vampy and I felt entirely comfortable wearing it during the day. I did use a clear lip liner with this, just to ensure there would be no feathering or smudging, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you could easily get away with no liner at all. These pencils are rich and creamy, but they don't tend to smear or move around once you have applied them. It is also a twist up pencil, so if the NARS matte/satin/gloss pencils have annoyed you because of the need to sharpen them, check these out!

The shade Cranberry is exactly what I have been looking for for years--a flattering deep red shade that isn't too dark and doesn't scream 'trying to hard' (does that make any sense whatsoever?!) It is exceptionally well pigmented--one swipe and you are good to go--and the lasting power is excellent. I normally only need to touch it up once throughout the day and it does a good job of fading down evenly. And the formula, complete with the antioxidant resveratrol, doesn't dry out my lips, which is impressive for such a deep and long-lasting color. Although the description on says these pencils have a matte finish, they are neither matte nor glossy. I would describe the finish as a satin (you can see it on my lips below), which will look much better on chapped lips than a matte finish during the winter months, anyways!

Cranberry (and the other High Pigment Pencil I have, Rhubarb) has not sated my appetite for more Bite Beauty. This line is one of the most exceptional I have seen in recent years. I love their singular focus on lip products--they have a cohesive line of products and have released a lot of innovative formulas in the (relatively) short time the company has been in existence.

Cranberry is currently available on for $24 and was in my local store the last time I checked (if you are wanting to meet the $50 requirement for free shipping, grab this pencil and the Agave Lip Mask reviewed here). Cranberry is limited edition, folks, and if you like a red lip, I think you will regret missing out on this one.
