Empties!

Bag Full o' Empties!
It's been a long, long time since I did an empties post (my last one was in January!) and I did throw away some products over the summer without chronicling them here. But I have yet again amassed enough empty products to warrant showing you some pictures and giving you my thoughts on a few of these items!

Candles & Room Fragrance
I'm trying to use up all of my candles and I made a decent dent in them recently by finishing up two large ones. I also went through a couple of Bath & Body Works fragrance bulbs. I'm also throwing out two of the BBW wall plugs because while they are reusable, after using them with more than two different bulb refills, I find they no longer work!

I finally finished my Lumene Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover, which I probably won't repurchase. It was ok at removing my waterproof mascara and eye makeup, but I didn't enjoy the oily film it left on my lids. I was sad to use up the last of my DiorSkin Forever Foundation, which I will repurchase at some point in the future. It gives good coverage without feeling heavy and has great lasting power. Now that I have finished my Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil I can move on to bigger and better things (namely, the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm that I am currently loving). The Boscia oil cleanser wasn't terrible, and I really like Boscia as an overall brand, but this product wasn't my cup of tea. The oil was thicker and more viscous than I would have liked. I also used up a sample of the NARS Pore Refining Primer, which was nothing special, and the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment, which is a staple in my skincare--not because it works wonders, but because it more or less gets the job done and I've yet to find something better.

Sachet, Shanté!
I've promised myself that once I use up all of my hand lotion samples, of which there are an obscene number, I can buy myself a luxury hand lotion: the Rodin Crema (one of the samples above), which is the loveliest and most luxurious hand cream I've ever tried. It's also $80 for a 100mL tube. Yikes.

Scent-sational!
I'm also still plowing through my fragrance samples and managed to completely finish up three within the past few weeks (with several others on the verge of extinction). I used up a Kiehls Orange Flower & Lychee Aromatic Mist that I used to spritz my pillows and sheets for a refreshing scent. Nice, but ultimately unnecessary. I also finished Coach Poppy, which I've enjoyed the smell of for years but have never taken the plunge and bought an actual bottle. Last is L.I.L.Y. by Stella McCartney, which is now on my list of scents to purchase. The floral notes of this perfume are cut by hints of pepper, making it quite unusual and great as a fall transition scent.

Last but not least are a Nivea lip balm and an old cuticle salve. I loved the Nivea Lip Balm in Olive Oil & Lemon so much that I dug out every remaining bit of balm in there. Once I use up some of my other lip balms, I'm sure I'll pick up another tube. The Watkins Red Clover Hand & Cuticle Salve, on the other hand, has languished unloved in my drawer for years (as in, more than 10 years). After opening the tin and discovering it smelled of rancid crayons, I quickly made the decision to toss!

What products have you finished up lately? Have you tried anything above or is there anything you think I would like to try?

  3. That Diorskin primer looks interesting. Would you mind telling us a bit more about it? Maybe do a review, if you end up repurchasing it? :-)

    1. The Diorskin isn't a primer--it's a foundation, giving medium to full coverage I'd say. Do you mean the NARS primer, by any chance?

One of my goals this year is to finish a foundation and lip product...hopefully it'll happen...I'm trying!! That Rodin hand cream has been on my wish list for awhile...maybe I'll catch it next time beauty.com has a 20% off, though they just did one so it may not happen for awhile?? But it's that good, eh?!!! I did just order the omorovicza hand cream...hoping that'll be really good too :-)
