Dior Makes Even the Basics a Little More Glamorous

Dior Crème de Rose Lip Balm and Crème Abricot Nail Cream
Many of us who don't bat an eyelid at spending upwards of $30 for a luxury lipstick that might be used on a handful of occasions throughout the year nonetheless balk at the idea of paying above drugstore prices for many of the basics that we will use on a daily basis. Myself included.

However, after I saw the adorable packaging for Dior's Crème de Rose lip balm and Crème Abricot nail cream, I decided to splurge and help myself to both of them (an added incentive was that I got them at 20% off during Sephora's November VIB sale). The packaging is sturdy and both provide a good amount of product (the lip balm has .25oz, the nail cream has .35oz).

These products are definitely on the more expensive end, however, and I cannot really say whether they are worth the extra price--as in, I am not sure that they perform better than more inexpensive products. The balm does have a lovely rose scent and I don't find it's texture sticky or uncomfortable on the lips. The nail cream smells of apricots and pulls double duty as both a cuticle moisturizer and a nail-fortifier. As someone with chronically brittle and peeling nails, anything that can help strengthen my nails is a winner in my book. I have only been using the nail cream for about a week, so I think it's too soon to say whether or not it is strengthening my nails, but it is definitely moisturizing my cuticle area very well! The main downside is that the cream is quite sticky, making it impractical for daytime wear. I've been applying it at night instead.

You can buy the Dior Crème de Rose lip balm for $26.50 and the Crème Abricot for $24.00 at Sephora.com.
