Review: Givenchy Le Prisme Blush in Bucolic Poppy

I have been waiting to get my hands on the Givenchy Le Prisme Blush Bucolique in Bucolic Poppy for what seems like ages. In reality, I believe it has only been weeks but don't be fooled into thinking that I wasn't ecstatic when this beauty finally showed up on Sephora.com! An online exclusive, you won't be able to find this blush in stores (unfortunately) but I can assure you that it is beautiful in real life!

Even the outer packaging is stunning, featuring the paint splatter effect that is also featured on the blush itself. At first glance, the blush doesn't look like its pigmentation will be great given the amount ratio of red to neutral in the pan. However, as Givenchy promises, the blush gives a natural flush to the cheeks. The pigmentation isn't so great that you need to be super careful when applying, but you also don't have to spend ages building up the color.

Given that I just received this in the mail yesterday, I haven't had time to give it an extensive test run. But I did slap it on this morning, and the staying power wasn't bad. It had faded a bit by the end of my nine hour day, but not terribly so. The powder is finely milled and goes on very smoothly--no problems with patchiness. I do wish that the color ran a bit more cool, as it ended up being between a red and a peach on my skin. The color was gorgeous, I just normally gravitate towards cooler tones on my cheeks.

Apologies for the flakey, spotty skin...going through a
mid-winterskin crisis at present. Eek!

All in all, at USD $49 this is a pricey blush, there are others I like better (Chanel, Tarte), and the color is surely dupeable but with that said, this is a gorgeous blush and a stunning visual piece to add to your collection if you don't mind spending the money!
